Broadcasts that don't feel like broadcasts
How to run a campaign that customers don't mute, with template messages, audience segments, and a completion report.
Field notes · Built by Arche Axon
Customers mute accounts that behave like megaphones. The difference between a broadcast that converts and one that gets archived is not copywriting. It is targeting, pacing, and honesty about what a template message is.
Segments before sends
A broadcast to 'everyone' is spam with extra steps. Segments built for customers who bought X, have open tickets, or have not ordered in 60 days turn a megaphone into a letter. The segment builder uses the same customer records as the inbox, so targeting is a filter, not an export.
Templates are a contract
Official WhatsApp templates exist so businesses can start conversations outside the 24-hour window. They are approved categories, not free-form ads. Treat the template as a contract: if the message would embarrass you read aloud to one customer, it is not a template. It is spam with approval.
The completion report
Every broadcast run produces a record: queued, sent, delivered, failed, per recipient. The failure list is the valuable part. It is your list-hygiene report. A broadcast system that cannot show you who did not receive the message is asking you to lie to yourself about reach.
The goal is not more messages. It is fewer, better-aimed, with receipts.
